WIFF: An Artful Mid-Week Escape

Welcome to another edition of “What I’m Feeling,” where I share my weekly reflections, musings, and discoveries to kickstart your weekend on a contemplative note. This week, I took a short flight to Savannah, seeking inspiration and a break from the weight of the past year and the restless holiday season at home.

Artistic Inspiration: Tyler Mitchell’s ‘Domestic Imaginaries’ Exhibition

I immersed myself in the world of Tyler Mitchell, a groundbreaking 28-year-old Black male photographer. Mitchell made history in 2018 as the first Black photographer to shoot the cover of American Vogue, featuring Beyoncé. His ‘Domestic Imaginaries‘ exhibition, dye-sublimation prints on silk, jersey, linen, or cotton, captivated me. The art, gently hung with wooden clothespins, redirected my path through the room—a reminder that life’s journey is never a straight line. If you’re in Savannah, the exhibition closes on Dec 31st.

Fragrant Interlude at The Paris Market

A stroll to The Paris Market led me to a perfume I’ve decided to savor in thought before making it mine. Creating space between desire and acquisition has become my recent practice. The scent, aligned with my preferences, has lingered in my thoughts since.

Good Eats at Late Air

An early dinner at Late Air treated me to a delightful citrus salad, a succulent steak, and a glass of Icaro Rosato Carbonico Schicchera 2021—a symphony of joy in a glass.

Solo Travel: A Romanticized Life

Traveling alone, one of my chosen methods of romanticizing life, allowed me to whisk myself away to a romantic city for art, window shopping, and a beautiful dinner. Traveling alone enhances my confidence and keeps me curious about the world and its people.
